Earth Pigment and Watercolours Workshop

An introduction into the process and practice of creating watercolour paints from local rocks, soils and clays.
Within this day-long workshop you will learn:
• How to find and gather colours in your local landscapes
• Different techniques for processing raw natural materials into fine, artist-grade pigments
• Examples of the binders which can be used with pigments to create materials such as printing inks, wax crayons, watercolours or gouache and oil paints
• How to process watercolour and gouache binder
• How to create watercolour paints.
We will create at least three different watercolour paints to be collected at a later date or posted to you once they have dried.
The workshop will be held at Purple Patch market garden in Bristol and is in collaboration with Garden Folk CIC. By attending this workshop you will be supporting the work that goes in to maintaining this wonderful site.
Lunch is available to buy at the site from the brilliant Chez Candice, serving delicious food using produce grown in the market garden. It's usually £10 for a plate, I will send out an email asking if you will want lunch from Candice so I can let her know in advance.

• Sensible footwear
• Lunch (if you don't want to buy from Chez Candice (see above) and any snacks you might want. The closest shops are about a 10-15 minute walk away)
• Sketchbook or notebook if you'd like to take notes
• Water bottle
